Dr. Amena Usmani graduated from the University of Miami, where she received her medical doctorate as well as her master of business administration degrees. She completed her residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, before moving to UT Southwestern Medical Center, where she completed her fellowships in transfusion medicine and histocompatibility and immunogenetics. She remained at UT Southwestern as faculty for several years, where she served as Medical Director of Transfusion Services and Assistant Director of the Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics Laboratory, before moving to UC San Diego. She currently serves as Associate Director of the Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics Lab and as an Associate Director of Transfusion Medicine at UC San Diego.
