Anat R. Tambur is a co-director of the Transplant Immunology Laboratory at Northwestern University, Chicago, IL, USA. She had served as President of the American Society for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ASHI), and the American Board for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ABHI). Anat is the founder of the Sensitization in Transplantation: Assessment of Risk (STAR) initiative; a collaborative working group of ASHI/AST. She is the Chair of the AST Research Network career development grants, Translational section, and serves on multiple Editorial Board for transplant related journals.
Dr. Tambur's research focuses on understanding humoral immune responses in the context of solid organ transplantation with specific emphasis on HLA-DQ epitopes. Her work led to >140 publications, and several distinguished awards including a Research Mentor Award from Northwestern University, the Bernard Amos Distinguished Scientist Award (ASHI, 2022); the Distinguished Senior Scientist Award (AST 2023), and the Rose Payne Award (ASHI 2023). Anat is also passionate about educating a new generation of HLA laboratory director/scientists and has trained 15 DIT candidates.
