James Lan, MD, FRCPC, D(ACHI)

Dr. Lan is an Assistant Professor jointly appointed to the University of British Columbia Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and the Department of Medicine, Division of Nephrology. He is the Medical Director of the HLA Laboratory in Vancouver, a transplant nephrologist at the Vancouver General Hospital, and co-chair of the National HLA Advisory Committee in Canada. Dr. Lan is the recipient of a Michael Smith Scholar award and a principal investigator receiving funding from CIHR, Genome Canada, Kidney Foundation of Canada, and CDTRP to support the application of new technologies to improve donor-recipient HLA compatibility and development of new solutions for highly sensitized patients on the kidney waiting list.
